Modern concepts can have a long history. In this session we will investigate where the concept
“critical thinking” comes from: It emerged in Ancient Athens (Greece) in the 5th century BC, regained
importance in Humanist thought during the 14th, 15th, and 16th centuries and played a crucial role
again during the Enlightenment of the 17th and 18th centuries. How did it change over the centuries?
