We must never underestimate the importance of symbols. When something becomes iconic, it is imprinted in the
imagination of people and has a power all of its own. In this sense, the symbols of the French Republic, specified in the
article 2 of the French Constitution and inspired by the French Revolution, represent the values and the foundations of the
nation whose fundamental principles are liberty and equality. In this session, participants will review and discuss these
different symbols to understand why they are important.
